POSITION TITLE: Employment Advisor

There are a minimum of 7 full-time permanent positions available, working 37.5 hours per week.

CLASSIFICATION: Job Grade: 7

REPORTS TO: Program Supervisor

DEPARTMENT: Employment Development Services

LOCATION: Across various locations in Kitchener, Guelph and Cambridge
RESPONSIBILITIES:

These positions will work as part of the Employment Services Team to assist individuals in securing and maintaining employment, education or vocational training; and in accessing job placement and training programs through supportive counselling and skills development.

EMPLOYMENT GUIDE:

Successful candidates will require a degree or diploma in social sciences, CDP designation, education or related discipline and one year relevant experience in employment counseling or social service delivery. Experience in the application of career counseling techniques strongly preferred. Prior experience working with individuals experiencing mental health and/or behavioural issues an asset. Solid knowledge of local labour market and ability to access and maximize community resources to support employment outcomes essential. Excellent ability to speak and write in English are essential for this position with proficiency in French desirable. Must be customer centric. with the ability to quickly engage customers. Must be a strong team player, capable of multi-tasking effectively in a fast-paced environment. A working knowledge of MS Office Suite is required. Experience in marketing and promotion an asset. A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation are required.
