<p>Introduction</p>
<p>The Healthy Life Style Ambassador program is an initiative that is aimed to promote healthy life style and newcomer participation in different programs such as swimming, food diversity and leadership, all leading to healthier lifestyles. Multilingual youth volunteers will carry on the program through training and obtaining certificates. This program may result in hiring multilingual youth volunteers as lifeguards at the end of their training depending on available positions.</p>
<p>Key areas of responsibility</p>
<p>Create awareness on food diversity and healthy eating habits.<br />
Attend the required training sessions (Leadership Development, Volunteer Readiness and Life Guard Training) for the program.<br />
Helps promote aquatic programs and food diversity issues in their own cultural communities.<br />
To work as an Assistant Instructor after completing the required trainings.<br />
As Assistant Instructors, promote the Swim To Survive program for youngsters.</p>

This program will ensure participants meet the 40 hours volunteer requirement for high school.</p>

Qualifications</p>
<p>Communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.<br />
Fluency in English and one of the following languages is essential: Arabic, Vietnamese, Farsi, Spanish, Amharic, Mandarin, Cantonese Dari, Portuguese, Tigrinean, Burmese, Turkish, Nuer, Urdu, Punjabi, Hindi and Somali.<br />
Willingness to volunteer/engage in the community.<br />
Must pass swim test<br />
Resident of Kitchener Waterloo.<br />
Good organizational skills.<br />
Self-reliant and independent.<br />
Demonstration of leadership skills.<br />
Must be able to make a 2 year commitment.</p>

<title>Some FREE Events</title>

<p>Join us on Saturday, March 27 for displays, crafts, snacks and music!</p>
<p>At 2:30pm, a play, “The Ojibway Creation Story” will be performed by students from Wilfrid Laurier University. First Nations is part of the elementary school curriculum so bring your elementary school children to this event.</p>
<p>Date:  Saturday, March 27<br />
Time:  2:00pm to 4:00 pm<br />
Place: McCormick Branch Library, 500 Parkside Drive, Waterloo</p>
<p>Please enter the Albert McCormick Community Centre at front doors and proceed up central staircase to the Upper Viewing Lounge.</p>

2.  Income Tax Clinic is on April 10th at the Waterlo Main Library. </p>
<p>If you are of low income and need a volunteer to file your income tax, please phone the office at 519-745-2531 and register with the receptionist. Only first 25 families. Must be simple tax returns. No self-employment or business or mutual funds.  Students are welcome.</p>
