Test Technician
ENGINEERING
FULL TIME
The Test Technician is responsible for the day to day operation and maintenance of the safety test lab and reports to the R&D Engineering Manager. The safety test lab is used to certify all Dimplex products to the applicable safety standard. The preparation and performance of tests to applicable standards, maintaining lab equipment and ensuring safe operation of the workplace are the key responsibilities of the Test Technician.
Position Responsibilities:
• Manage and perform product testing to meet test plans, regulatory boards and marketing performance requirements
• Maintain an accurate documentation system and creation of test documentation according to ISO17025 guidelines
• Maintain equipment and ensure all calibration certificates are current
• Maintain self testing certification with UL and CSA
• Organize and maintain lab environment
• Submit projects proposals for quotation and manage project timelines
• Track and obtain regulatory approvals in required time of project plans
• Maintain/update library of applicable standards
• Maintain knowledge of proposed changes or new standards and distribute the information as needed
• Resident expert on applying and interpreting applicable standards
• Ensure the lab meets all Health and Safety requirement of both the company and the regulatory authorities
Position Requirements:
• College Diploma; 1+ year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills:
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively with customers or employees of organization.

Technical Skills:
• Ability to understand and apply electrical and heat transfer calculations such as ohms law, 3-phase power, heat loss through conduction, convection and radiation.
• Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
• Safely work with products using up to 600V and 90A.
Computer Skills :
• To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft products such as Outlook, Excel and Word software.
• Knowledge of Solidworks or other parametric solid modeling packages is considered an asset.
Physical Demands :
• The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds.
